Chelsea welcome Real Madrid to Stamford Bridge for the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
The second leg promises to be an exhilarating encounter after a fascinating first leg at the Bernabeu. Real Madrid took a huge step towards the semi-finals with a 2-0 win over Chelsea who will be expected to come out fighting at the Bridge.
Madrid will head into the second leg with plenty of confidence, having put in a dominant display in the first leg. In Spain, they have since defeated Cadiz 2-0 and are the favourites to win the upcoming clash.
On the other hand, Chelsea will need to produce a massive performance if they are to overturn the two-goal deficit. Frank Lampard will be hoping for an incredible effort at the back when Karim Benzema and co. come eyeing goals.
Former Chelsea centre-back, Gary Cahill, has singled out two players who will play a key role for the Blues when they host Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-final second-leg tie at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
Cahill believes Thiago Silva and Mateo Kovacic will be crucial for Chelsea against Real Madrid, adding that the pair knows how to manage moments during matches.
Chelsea head to the Champions League tie after losing 2-0 in the first leg last week at Santiago Bernabeu.
“The tie is set up. To come away with the sending-off and 2-0, the first goal is key, and it will be electric in the stadium.
“It’s been done before, so it could be a great game. Managing the game is key – Thiago Silva, Mateo Kovacic, these kinds of players will know how to manage different moments of the match – but it is all about the first goal,” Cahill said (via The Independent).
The kick-off time for the Chelsea vs Real Madrid tie is 8pm.
